Who Are We?

 

Knowledge Keepers: Speak Up for First Nation Public Libraries Project

Looking for First Nation Advocate Leaders to participate in the Knowledge Keeper: Speak Up for First Nation Public Libraries, as role models in voicing thier support for First Nation Public Libraries.

As an Advocate Leader you will assist us in promoting how First Nation Public Libraries facilitate lifelong learning experiences and support and promote literacy in your community. The project will also emphasize the importance of First Nation Public Libraries play in the development of community. Advocacy will increase critical support for ongoing development of existing public libraries and promote the establishment of public libraries in First Nation communities currently without public libraries.

The goal is to build on the groundwork and momentum of the Our Way Forward: Advocacy Toolkits project and Making a Difference DVD, and provide opportunity for the First Nation Aboriginal leaders, celebrities, Elders and community members to contributre their voice to support First Nation Public Libraries in any three of the following key categories:

  • Advocates may be aked to provide public servcie announcements specific to First Nation Public Libraries situation (television, radio, print media and local presentation and programming);

  • Advocates may be asked to be features on posters, trading cards with and testimonials publications

  • Advocates may be featured on a Website
